TOWN OF POWNAL CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER The Town of Pownal is accepting employment applications for a Code Enforcement Officer position This is a part-time position. This position also serves as the Building Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Local Plumbing Inspector and E-911 addressing officer for the Town. This position is responsible for inspecting properties, reviewing permit applications (including but not limited to land use, building, electrical, internal plumbing and subsurface wastewater disposal), citing land use violations, zoning code violations, reviewing construction plans, monitoring progress of projects through the inspection process, working with property owners to resolve issues, maintaining appropriate files, preparing reports, insuring compliance with relevant codes and statutes, answering questions from the public regarding Town ordinances and adopted codes. Knowledge of regulations and guidelines prepared by state and federal agencies relative to public health and safety. Ability to interpret zoning laws; read detailed maps and surveys; shoreland zoning preferred. Successful applicants must be a Maine certified Code Enforcement Officer and Licensed Plumbing Inspector. Applicants must also be 80K and MUBEC certified or soon become certified by the State of Maine. A construction and plumbing background are strongly recommended but not required. The ideal applicant must possess strong and effective customer service skills; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communications, operate standard office equipment including personal computer using MS word Excel, Outlook & Internet Explorer/ Google Chrome. The starting pay rate for this position will be based on experience.
