City of HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP-OFF Portland SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2021, 8:00AM-12:00PM MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY, 929 HIGHLAND AVE O OK TO BRING * NOT ACCEPTED FROM THE HOUSE Electronic waste or appliances such as a/c's Adhesives/Resins Cleaners/Drain openers Bleach Empty containers Moth balls Polishes Removers Containers larger than 5 gallons Hobby/Artist paints Photo Chemicals Fluorescent/CFL Bulbs Household trash Flea/tick control Nail polish/remover Hairspray/hair color Alkaline (houschold) batteries Rechargeable batteries Thermometers/thermostats Asbestos Commercial/industrial/radioactive waste FROM THE BASEMENT AND GARAGE Smoke detectors Fuel/Gasoline/Kerosene Engine Degreaser Infectious or biological waste Antifreeze Automotive fluids Car Wax/Polish Driveway Sealer Pressurized cylinders Roofing Tar Pool Chemicals Paint/Stain/Varnish Propane cylinders Paint stripper/thinner Solvents/Adhesives Lighter Fluid Ammunition, Fireworks, Explosives Fire extinguishers FROM THE YARD Syringes or medical equipment Insecticide/bug spray/ rat poison Fungicide/herbicide Chemical fertilizer Prescription & over-the-counter medicine What you need to know: o Event is free to South Portland residents with a transfer station sticker or proof of residency. o Event is for household hazardous waste only. No electronic waste accepted. o Follow signs and traffic cones to form a vehicle line at the gate to the Municipal Services Facility, 929 Highland Ave. o Remain in your vehicle; workers will remove waste items from your car. Please wear a mask when speaking with staff. o No walk-ins permitted. No business or commercial waste accepted. o Gate opens 8am. Queueing ends promptly at noon; all vehicles in line by noon will be processed. o Event will be held rain or shine, but will be cancelled if a winter storm occurs that day. o Transfer Facility customers may proceed directly to the Transfer Facility- they do not need to wait in the event line.
