The BOOST3 Study: A study of emergency care in patients with severe traumatic brain injury. The BOOST3 Study is a research study being done at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine and other hospitals across the US for people brought to an emergency department after severe traumatic brain injury. This research study will look at two strategies for monitoring and treating patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in the intensive care unit (ICU) to determine which one is more likely to help the patient get better. Both of these alternative strategies used in standard care. It is unknown if one is more effective than the other.
