MUSIC EDUCATION For nearly twenty years, 317 MAIN COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER (317 Main) has been dedicated to the belief that everyone deserves access to music education and that everyone has the potential for musical expression. They work toward this mission by providing enriching music education and opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to connect through music. The non-profit offers everything from one-on-one lessons to community jam sessions and concerts. They offer classes for newborns, programming for 317 MAIN COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER those over 65 and everything in-between. After years of sustained growth, 317 Main has reached a critical moment that has brought with it a great opportunity for expansion. In September, they celebrated the groundbreaking for their new 4MM expansion to their existing building. Demand for lessons and classes has forced the organization to look for immediate solutions such as holding classes in local schools and churches. It will feature additional teaching studios, a café, dedicated space for the Little Roots program, and a 200 seat performance hall. While 317 Main has met their original goal of 4MM, the increasing building costs due to the pandemic has further emphasized the need for ongoing funding.
